Line Editing
How I define a line edit:
A line edit focuses on the words. Simple as that. Ironically, we often forget the magic of the words as writers. But the words, their intermingling tones, and melodic rhythms matter so very much in a manuscript. It isn't all plot and grammar, the words must flow.
When I do a line edit, I pay attention to your voice. That's right. Your voice - that's where the magic is. I listen for your voice, and study what precisely you are trying to accomplish in your manuscript; what tone, style, mood you are trying to evoke. I consider these, and then edit for your voice, reader's clarity, smoothness of sentences, and general comprehension.
My process:
I read through your manuscript dozens of times. But the first time, I read just to get a feel for your voice and your syntactical patterns. Then I begin several drafts of editing, each time re-arranging or changing sentences to provide clarity and comprehension, and to highlight your voice. I use track changes to make in-line comments, and changes within the text. I can be available for a video chat both before and/or after I've completed your manuscript.
Price:
Line Edits start at $0.02 / word.
