Developmental Editing
How I define a developmental edit:
A developmental edit is all about the overall structure of your work. Developmental edits do not focus on grammar, but rather focuses on the most important building blocks of your novel: hook, voice, POV, plot, character arcs, chapter composition, etc.
When I do a developmental edit, I pay attention to every detail of the plot and characters, scene, plot devices, voice, and points of view as I read and critique. But, I always give praise and encouragement alongside critiques and advice. When I find something that isn't working, I always give ideas, examples, or commentary that will make it work. When you hire me as a Developmental Editor, you are getting your biggest cheerleader, and your biggest critic.
My process:
I review your manuscript thoroughly (often going through it dozens of times), utilize track changes in word to correct mistakes or give comments, and I provide an in-depth editorial letter when I am finished with your manuscript. I encourage you to speak with me via video call both before and after your manuscript revision, and can be available through e-mail at any time during the editing process.
Price:
Developmental Edits start at $0.01 / word.
